The disc model is very helpful for understanding back, neck, and referred pain from the spine. Especially for those whose pain is worse when sitting, rising from sitting, raising their head, and other similar activities.
It’s important to know that not everyone’s neck or back problem fits the disc model so it’s application has some limitation. Nonetheless it is helpful for understanding most types of neck and back pain and is great for guiding the decision for which exercises you should try first.
